Our second trend is the monochromatic eye in which only a single shade of eyeshadow or eyeliner is showcased -- although there may seem to be only one shade from a distance, more than one shadow is probably used to achieve the monochromatic effect. On Roberto Cavalli's Spring 2011 RTW catwalk (as seen on Style.com), a soft grayed brown was the shadow of choice paired with yet another nude lip and Monsieur Cavalli's vision was finished with long, straight hair with a center part. My recommendation to those who will try this look at home is to use a warmer shadow than is shown in the photo below and to only go a shade or two darker than one's own skin tone to avoid looking too harsh or heavy-lidded. On another note, I love this look because it can give an edge to a classic outfit or soften a biker-chic/rocker outfit.
