Subtle Drama

I've been watching some Beauty School videos on Vogue's website lately and I find myself inspired to recreate runway make-up looks that are everyday-wear-friendly.  The first look is from a Spring fashion show and was created by the famed Pat McGrath.  Lily Donaldson was her muse and the look featured some key elements:  soft, smoky browns with Bronze shimmer in the center of the lid only, a mostly bare face, and soft pink lips.

Brushes you'll need:

- MAC #'s 214 (short shader brush), 217 (blending brush), 242 (shader brush), 222 (tapered blending brush), Small Angle Brush (263), and 116 (blush brush)

Products you'll need:

- MAC Eyeshadows in Vanilla, Orb, Malt, Soft Brown, Texture, Espresso, and Woodwinked
- MAC Paintpot in Soft Ochre

- MAC Powder Blush in Strada

- MAC Lipsticks in Cherish and 40's Pink (Mattene)

- MAC Cremesheen Glass in Fashion Scoop
- MAC Technakohl Liner in Brown Border

Supplemental:
- A brow-filling product - Mascara

Eyes...

[* Cover the entire lid from below the brow to the lash line with Soft Ochre using your finger.
[* Apply Vanilla to the area underneath the brow bone (217).
[* Underneath Vanilla, apply Orb as a base up to the lash line (242).

[* Apply Soft Brown over Orb going past the crease (242).
[* Fill the crease and outer V with Texture by taking up small amounts of shadow at a time and building color (222).
[* Make the center of your lids shimmer with Woodwinked (222).
[* Diffuse the line between the highlight colors and Texture using Malt; go over the highlight color if you must (222).

[* Line the outer third of the lower lash line with Texture, the water line with Espresso, and the water line again with Brown Border (242).
[* Line the upper lash line with Brown Border.

Cheeks...

[
* Apply Strada to the outside of the apples of the cheeks, blending out toward the hairline (116).

Lips

[
* Apply Cherish to nude out lips, thinly layer 40's Pink to give lips more color, and tone down the pink while making lips shine with Fashion Scoop.

Additional finishing steps: [Fill in eyebrows using MAC's #208 Angled Brow brush and MAC Eyeshadows in Charcoal Brown and Espresso], [Tame unruly brows using MAC Brow Finisher in Clear], and [Darken lashes using MAC's Plushlash mascara in Plushblack].
